Tiny screws vs. teeth: which anchor works best for braces?

NCT ID NCT01025141

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether using a small metal screw (miniscrew) placed in the jawbone works better than using the back teeth as anchors to close gaps after removing two upper premolars during braces treatment. About 99 people aged 12 to 50 took part. The main goal was to see how well the gap closed and how straight the teeth became after 8 months.
