NCT ID NCT04626245
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether an 8-week phone-based mindfulness program can reduce stress and blood pressure in 150 pregnant women at risk for hypertensive disorders. Participants will complete daily surveys and wear biosensors to track stress and heart activity. The goal is to see if mindfulness can help prevent pregnancy-related high blood pressure without medication.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
mindfulness training
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a non-drug method to lower the risk of high blood pressure disorders in pregnancy.
What could go wrong
This is an early study with only 150 participants, so results may not apply to all women. The intervention is behavioral, and its effect on preventing hypertension is still uncertain.
