First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a smartphone app called MindfulCityU can help university students with mild depressive symptoms feel better. 120 students will either use the app for four weeks or join a waitlist. Researchers will measure changes in depression, anxiety, stress, and mindfulness before, after, and two months later.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way for students to ease mild depression and stress using their phone.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 120 participants. The app may not work better than simply waiting, and results may not apply to all students.
