App algorithm aims to forecast migraines a day in advance

NCT ID NCT07227194

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This completed study tested whether a machine learning algorithm could predict the likelihood of a migraine the next day. Over 53,000 Nerivio app users aged 8 and older provided daily reports and location data. The goal was to see how accurately the model could forecast migraine days versus non-migraine days.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If the algorithm works well, it could help people with migraines anticipate and manage their symptoms more effectively.

What could go wrong

This is an observational data analysis, not a treatment trial. The model's predictions may not be accurate for everyone, and it does not test any new therapy.
