Can a simple clothespin test improve migraine care?
NCT ID NCT07559565
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will measure how sensitive people with episodic and chronic migraine are to pressure pain, and how that relates to their headache burden and quality of life. Researchers will compare a standard pressure pain device with a new tool called Algopeg, which is like a calibrated clothespin. They will also test nerve sensitivity in the head and neck. The goal is to find simpler ways to assess migraine-related pain sensitivity.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could lead to faster and cheaper ways to measure pain sensitivity in migraine patients, helping doctors better understand and manage the condition.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study with no treatment involved, so it won't directly improve patient outcomes. The new tool may not prove more useful than existing methods.
