Scientists probe migraine brain with magnetic pulses

NCT ID NCT07250464

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will use a non-invasive technique called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to measure brain activity in 20 people—10 with migraine and 10 healthy controls. By comparing how the brain's motor cortex responds, researchers hope to learn more about how migraine affects brain inhibition. The study does not test any treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help explain how migraine affects brain inhibition, potentially guiding future treatments.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early observational study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply broadly. It does not test a treatment.
