First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving a small amount of the sedative midazolam during surgery can help prevent confusion (delirium) and anxiety in older patients. About 612 people aged 65 to 85 having non-heart, non-brain surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either midazolam or a placebo. The goal is to see if this simple approach can improve recovery and mental clarity after surgery.
