First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving a mild sedative (midazolam) before breast conservation surgery helps reduce anxiety and improve patient satisfaction. 124 women were randomly assigned to receive either midazolam or a placebo (salt water). Their anxiety was measured before and after the medicine, and satisfaction was checked the next day. The goal was to see if this simple pre-surgery medication makes the experience better for patients.
