Can mindfulness help methadone patients kick tobacco and other drugs?

Summary

This study tests two counseling approaches—Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement—to help 420 adults on methadone treatment reduce tobacco smoking and other drug use. Participants will receive these therapies and be monitored for days of drug and tobacco use. The goal is to see if these methods improve outcomes for people with opioid, tobacco, and other substance use.
