New Parkinson's drug MF1 enters first human safety trial
NCT ID NCT07666022
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-stage trial tests a new oral drug called MF1 in healthy adults and people with Parkinson's disease. The drug aims to block a harmful protein (alpha-synuclein) linked to Parkinson's. The main goal is to check safety and how the body processes the drug, not yet whether it works. About 58 participants will take single or multiple doses over 7–14 days.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
MF1 (oral drug)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a treatment that slows or stops Parkinson's disease progression by targeting a key protein linked to the disease.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 trial focused on safety, not effectiveness. It is small (58 people) and may not show any benefit. Side effects are unknown.
