Blood test may spot lung cancer recurrence months before scans
NCT ID NCT07257471
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether measuring DNA methylation markers in the blood can predict if lung cancer will come back after a minimally invasive treatment called Co-ablation. Researchers will follow 30 patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer who cannot have surgery. Blood samples will be taken before treatment and up to 24 months after to see if the markers can detect recurrence earlier than standard imaging.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Co-ablation system therapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that detects lung cancer recurrence earlier than scans, helping doctors personalize follow-up care.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The methylation test may not be accurate enough to replace standard monitoring.
