New study could speed up methadone restart for fentanyl users
NCT ID NCT07546396
First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests a new approach to restarting methadone treatment for people with opioid use disorder who use fentanyl. Current guidelines often require slow dose increases, which can delay relief. The new method may allow patients to return to their previous stable dose more quickly. The study will enroll 25 adults to see if this approach is safe and acceptable, and to guide a larger future trial.
