Could one shot during surgery cut opioid use by over a third?

NCT ID NCT07092475

Summary

This study aimed to see if giving a single dose of methadone during breast reconstruction surgery could provide longer-lasting pain relief. The goal was to reduce the total amount of opioid painkillers patients need after their operation, which could lower the risk of side effects and dependence. The trial was designed for women having this specific surgery but was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
