New study tests metformin to block Statin-Induced diabetes in schizophrenia patients

Summary
This study looks at whether the diabetes drug metformin can prevent blood sugar issues caused by statins (cholesterol-lowering drugs) in people with schizophrenia. About 400 adults with stable schizophrenia will take either metformin or a placebo alongside a statin for six months. The goal is to see if metformin helps keep blood sugar and insulin levels healthy while still lowering cholesterol.
