NCT ID NCT05900284

ENROLLING_BY_INVITATION Disease control Sponsor: Hernando Gomez Source: ClinicalTrials.gov ↗

Summary

This study is testing whether metformin, a common diabetes medication, is safe and practical to use for treating sudden kidney failure caused by severe bloodstream infections (sepsis). Researchers will give metformin or a placebo to 80 adult patients in intensive care with sepsis to check for side effects and see if the treatment approach works. The goal is to gather information for a larger future trial that would test if metformin actually helps kidneys recover and improves survival.
