Common diabetes drug may help seniors rebuild shriveled muscles

Summary

This study tests whether the diabetes drug metformin can help older adults regain muscle after a period of disuse, such as bed rest. Fifty healthy adults aged 60 and older will take either metformin or a placebo during recovery. The goal is to see if metformin improves muscle regrowth and reduces weakness.
