Common diabetes pill may hold key to slowing memory decline
NCT ID NCT07395960
Summary
This study is testing if the diabetes medication metformin can help control mild memory problems in older adults who are overweight or obese. Researchers will enroll 54 participants aged 60-75 and randomly assign them to receive either metformin plus lifestyle advice or lifestyle advice alone for 26 weeks. The main goal is to see if metformin improves how the brain responds to insulin, which is thought to be linked to memory function, and if this leads to better scores on memory tests.
