Summary
This study tests whether metformin, a common diabetes drug, can lower inflammation and improve immune function in 100 adults aged 18-64 who have a history of injection drug use, with or without HIV. Participants will take metformin or a placebo for 16 weeks and have their immune systems checked, including how well they respond to vaccines. The goal is to see if metformin can help restore immune balance in this high-risk group.
