Why losing weight gets harder: scientists investigate the hidden role of liver and kidney size
NCT ID NCT07415213
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at why people who lose weight often experience a greater-than-expected slowdown in metabolism, making it harder to keep weight off. Researchers will compare three lifestyle approaches—resistance training, calorie restriction, and time-restricted eating—in 75 overweight adults over 10 weeks. They will measure changes in liver and kidney size, resting metabolism, and body composition to better understand the biological reasons behind metabolic adaptation.
