Mesh patch tested to prevent painful hernias after bowel surgery

NCT ID NCT06157645

Summary

This study tested whether adding a supportive mesh patch during surgery to close a temporary intestinal opening (stoma) works better than standard closure. Researchers compared the two methods in 62 patients to see which one better prevents painful hernias, infections, and reduces hospital stay. The goal was to find a safer way to close these openings and help patients recover with fewer complications.
