NCT ID NCT07161284
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether having peer supporters trained in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) can improve the mental well-being of first-year medical residents. About 520 residents in Lyon will be followed for a year, comparing those exposed to trained peers with those who are not. The goal is to see if this approach reduces burnout, anxiety, and depression symptoms.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training for peer supporters
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, scalable way to improve mental health and reduce burnout among medical trainees.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a randomized trial, so results may be influenced by other factors. It is also single-center and early-stage, so findings may not apply broadly.
