Summary

Researchers at Mayo Clinic are testing a mobile phone app designed to help women ages 45–55 identify and manage menopause symptoms. The app provides education and creates a personalized discussion guide for doctor visits. 900 women will participate, with half receiving the app and half getting a pamphlet. The study tracks how often women use the app and whether it leads to more menopause-related care.

Active substance

mobile phone application

What this could lead to

If successful, this app could help women better identify menopause symptoms and have more productive talks with their doctors about treatment options.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study focused on app usage and healthcare visits, not on directly improving symptoms. The app is only in English and limited to Mayo Clinic patients, so results may not apply broadly.
