New keytruda copycat tested for melanoma prevention

NCT ID NCT07475572

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests AVT32-DRL_PB, a biosimilar (copy) of the cancer drug Keytruda, in 120 people with stage IIB/C or III melanoma whose tumors were fully removed. Half get the biosimilar, half get Keytruda, every 3 weeks. The main goal is to see if drug levels in the blood are similar, not yet to prove it works as well.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
AVT32-DRL_PB (a biosimilar to the cancer drug Keytruda)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a more affordable alternative to Keytruda for preventing melanoma recurrence after surgery.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1 trial focused on comparing drug levels in the blood, not yet on long-term outcomes. The biosimilar may not work as well or have different side effects than Keytruda.
