Scientists hunt for a 'Crystal Ball' to personalize skin cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT07436390

Summary

This study aimed to find a better way to predict which patients with advanced skin cancer (metastatic melanoma) would respond well to a common type of immunotherapy. Researchers measured levels of a protein called interferon-gamma in patients' tumors and blood, and also looked at their gut bacteria, to see if these factors were linked to treatment success. The goal was to help doctors personalize treatment by identifying patients most likely to benefit from these powerful drugs.
