Can smartphone cameras spot skin cancer as well as a dermatologist?

NCT ID NCT03699995

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested three portable imaging systems (MoleMapper, Visiomed, and confocal microscopy) to see how well they could detect melanoma compared to a dermatologist's exam. Seventeen people with suspicious moles participated. The goal was to find out if these devices could accurately identify which moles needed a biopsy, potentially making skin cancer screening easier and more accessible.
