Scientists track protein recycling in healthy bodies

NCT ID NCT06269653

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at how quickly proteins in the body are replaced, a process called protein turnover, in healthy adults of different ages. Participants will drink a safe form of heavy water for 21 days and undergo tests like muscle biopsies, imaging scans, and strength tests. The goal is to understand how aging changes protein turnover, which may help future research on age-related diseases.
