Major study aims to reduce painful liver biopsies with simple scans
NCT ID NCT06986447
First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 1,689 adults with fatty liver disease (MASLD) or a related condition with alcohol use (MetALD) to see if non-invasive tests like MRI and Fibroscan can accurately track disease progression. Researchers hope these scans can replace liver biopsies in future clinical trials and routine care. The study also aims to better understand how MetALD progresses over time.
