Coloring and music may calm cancer screening fears
NCT ID NCT07789236
First seen Aug 27, 2026 · Last updated Sep 01, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This trial tests whether a 20-minute session of mandala coloring while listening to slow instrumental music can reduce cancer fear and anxiety in women undergoing cancer screening. Women aged 30 to 65 attending a screening center will be randomly assigned to either the coloring and music session or standard care. Researchers will compare questionnaire scores before and after to see if this simple, drug-free approach helps make screening less stressful.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A 20-minute session of mandala coloring combined with slow-tempo instrumental music before cancer screening.
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this simple, low-cost approach could offer a drug-free way to ease fear and anxiety during cancer screening, making the experience more comfortable for women.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with 90 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is brief and may not significantly reduce anxiety for everyone.
