Brain zaps to keep depression at bay: new trial tests maintenance therapy
NCT ID NCT06938841
First seen May 03, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study is for people with hard-to-treat depression who have already benefited from a type of brain stimulation called rTMS. It tests whether continuing rTMS sessions over 6 months can help maintain that improvement. 75 participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: standard rTMS, a more intensive 'clustered' rTMS schedule, or a placebo (sham) treatment. The goal is to see which approach best keeps the brain connections linked to mood stable.
