AI predicts which kids need genetic tests before meds

NCT ID NCT06902688

First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether a machine learning model can predict which children in the hospital will need a medication that requires a pharmacogenetic test. The goal is to see if the model helps doctors order these tests earlier, so results are available before the child receives the drug. About 275 children aged 6 months to 18 years at The Hospital for Sick Children will take part. The study focuses on improving the timing of testing, not on treating the disease itself.
