New study aims to uncover hidden swelling after urologic cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT05264337
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study follows 400 patients who have had urologic cancer surgery with lymph node removal to see how often they develop lymphedema (leg swelling). Researchers will use questionnaires and special devices to measure swelling and tissue fluid over two years. The goal is to better understand this common but understudied side effect.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help doctors better predict and manage lymphedema after urologic cancer surgery.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It only measures outcomes and does not test any new therapy, so it cannot directly improve patient care.
