New drug trial aims to free patients from frequent blood transfusions

NCT ID NCT05732961

Summary

This study is testing whether the drug luspatercept can help adults with anemia from certain lower-risk bone marrow disorders become less dependent on regular blood transfusions. Researchers will enroll about 70 participants who currently need frequent transfusions and see if adding luspatercept to their standard care reduces that need. The trial will also closely monitor the drug's safety and how well participants tolerate it.
