Sound waves aim to free lungs: new ICU trial tests quicker path off ventilators

NCT ID NCT05188092

Summary

This study is testing if using a simple, safe bedside lung ultrasound can help doctors better guide fluid removal in critically ill patients on ventilators. The goal is to see if this approach helps patients breathe on their own sooner, potentially reducing their time in the ICU. It will compare the ultrasound-guided method to the current standard of care in 1,000 adult ICU patients.
