ER text alerts could boost lung cancer screening rates

NCT ID NCT07287085

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving people a direct referral for lung cancer screening from the emergency room, plus text message reminders, helps more high-risk smokers get screened. About 300 people aged 50-80 who smoke or quit recently will be split into two groups: one gets basic info, the other gets a referral and texts. Researchers will check who actually gets screened within 120 days.
