Lung cancer clues found in blood vessels near tumors

NCT ID NCT04939324

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 30 people with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer who had surgery. Researchers collected blood from a vein near the tumor and from a regular arm vein to study tiny particles called exosomes. The goal was to see if these particles could help predict whether the cancer would come back after surgery.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help identify molecular markers that predict cancer recurrence after surgery, guiding future treatment decisions.

What could go wrong

This is a small, observational study with only 30 participants. It is not testing a treatment, so it cannot directly improve outcomes. Results may not apply to all lung cancer patients.
