Cancer trial challenges high steroid use before chemo

NCT ID NCT02776436

Summary

This study tested whether it is safe to lower the high dose of the steroid dexamethasone given to patients before docetaxel chemotherapy. It involved 46 people with breast or prostate cancer. The goal was to find the lowest effective steroid dose to prevent allergic and swelling reactions, while reducing steroid side effects like blood sugar problems and mood changes.
