New combo therapy aims to shrink tumors with less radiation

NCT ID NCT04381806

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a new way to treat advanced solid tumors by combining low-dose radiation with a drug called 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA). ALA helps cancer cells absorb more radiation, potentially killing them while sparing healthy tissue. The study involves 130 adults whose cancers have not responded to standard treatments. The main goal is to find the safest and most effective dose of this combination.
