Triple threat before surgery: could this combo shrink lung tumors better?

NCT ID NCT06877299

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This phase 2 trial is testing whether giving a combination of low-dose radiation, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), the immunotherapy drug tislelizumab, and standard chemotherapy before surgery can improve outcomes for people with stage II to III non-small cell lung cancer. The study will enroll 30 participants whose tumors are considered removable. The main goal is to see how many patients have no cancer cells left in their surgical samples (pathologic complete response).

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Tislelizumab (immunotherapy) plus platinum-based chemotherapy, combined with low-dose radiation and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT)

What this could lead to

If successful, this approach could shrink tumors before surgery, potentially improving survival and reducing recurrence in people with resectable non-small cell lung cancer.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase (phase 2) study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The combination of radiation, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy also carries risks of serious side effects.
