First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study will check if low-dose CT scans can find lung cancer early in 1,716 high-risk smokers in India. Participants get a baseline scan, and if anything looks suspicious, they are referred to a team of specialists for follow-up. The goal is to see if this screening method works well in the Indian population and to improve how lung cancer care is delivered.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
low-dose CT scan
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that low-dose CT screening effectively catches lung cancer early in high-risk Indian smokers, potentially saving lives through timely treatment.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly cure or treat cancer. Results may not apply to all populations, and false positives could cause unnecessary stress or procedures.
