Scientists probe loneliness as hidden barrier to beating depression
NCT ID NCT07333027
Summary
This study aims to understand if feeling lonely makes standard hospital treatment for depression less effective. Researchers will follow 200 adults receiving inpatient care for depression, asking them to fill out surveys and provide blood, saliva, and stool samples at admission, discharge, and three months later. The goal is to learn how loneliness and depression are connected and if lonely people need different support to recover.
