New hope to prevent deadly bleeding in liver disease

NCT ID NCT06861075

Summary

This study is testing if a heart medication called carvedilol can safely lower high blood pressure in the liver's portal vein (portal hypertension) in people with cirrhosis. The goal is to see if this reduces the risk of dangerous digestive bleeding. Researchers will measure the pressure inside the liver using a special ultrasound scope before and after one month of treatment in 30 participants.
