Fatty liver linked to hidden heart risks? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07545343

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study follows 700 adults with fatty liver disease (MASLD) for three years to see if liver fat measured by ultrasound is linked to early heart problems. Participants get heart scans and checkups every 6 to 12 months. The goal is to find better ways to predict heart attacks, strokes, and heart failure in this group.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to better ways to predict heart problems in people with fatty liver disease using ultrasound and heart imaging.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly improve health. Results may not apply to everyone, and it will take years to complete.
