Radiation beads tested to grow healthy liver for cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT04390724

Summary

This study is for people with liver cancer (HCC) who need surgery to remove their tumor but currently don't have enough healthy liver tissue left to safely undergo the operation. Researchers are testing a treatment called Y90 radioembolization, where tiny radioactive beads are injected into the liver to shrink the tumor and, importantly, help the remaining healthy part of the liver grow larger. The goal is to find the best dose of these beads to help patients grow enough healthy liver to become candidates for the potentially curative surgery.
