Scientists track radioactive fat to understand heart disease risk

NCT ID NCT00001154

Summary

This study aimed to understand how fat particles called lipoproteins move through the body in healthy people and in people with high cholesterol or other blood fat disorders. Researchers tracked these particles using tiny, safe amounts of radioactive material injected into 759 participants. The goal was to learn how these fats contribute to artery hardening, which can lead to heart disease.
