New study links common blood fat to faster heart valve damage

NCT ID NCT06648915

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at 364 people with mild to moderate aortic valve narrowing (aortic stenosis) to see if those with high levels of lipoprotein(a) — a type of fat in the blood — have faster disease progression than those with low levels. Participants are observed over time using heart ultrasounds and tracking heart events. The goal is to better understand how this blood fat affects valve disease, which could guide future treatments.
