Magnetic ring for heartburn tracked for 10 years
NCT ID NCT04253392
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This registry follows 500 adults who receive the LINX device, a ring of magnetic beads implanted around the esophagus to help keep stomach acid down. The goal is to check for safety issues like device movement, erosion, or swallowing problems over up to 10 years. Participants will also report how their reflux symptoms and quality of life change.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
LINX Reflux Management System (magnetic bead ring implanted around the esophagus)
What this could lead to
If successful, this registry will confirm that the LINX device is safe and effective for controlling GERD over the long term, helping patients avoid daily medication.
What could go wrong
This is an observational registry, not a controlled trial, so it cannot prove the device works better than other treatments. Risks include device erosion, migration, or need for removal.
