NCT ID NCT05095051

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a device that cools and compresses the arms and legs to see if it can prevent nerve damage caused by chemotherapy. The device is first tested in healthy volunteers to find the best temperature and pressure, then in cancer patients receiving weekly paclitaxel. The goal is to see if the treatment is safe and tolerable.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Paxman Cryocompression System (PCCS) - a device that cools and compresses the limbs

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to prevent painful nerve damage caused by chemotherapy.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small safety study. The device may be uncomfortable or cause side effects, and it is not yet proven to prevent nerve damage.
