Chill out chemo pain: new device may stop nerve damage
NCT ID NCT07064798
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a device that cools and squeezes the arms and legs during chemotherapy to prevent nerve damage, which can cause numbness, tingling, and pain. Fifty adults with breast or gynecologic cancer receiving taxane chemo will wear the device during infusions. Researchers will check if it reduces nerve symptoms, how long people can tolerate it, and if it's safe.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Paxman Limb Cryocompression System (cooling and compression device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give patients a simple, drug-free way to prevent or reduce nerve damage from taxane chemotherapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 50 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The device may be uncomfortable or cause skin issues, and it might not reduce nerve symptoms as hoped.
