Which ointment eases hemorrhoid surgery pain best? new trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07159334
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two ointments—lignocaine and glyceryl trinitrate (GTN)—for pain relief after hemorrhoid removal. Sixty-four adults will apply one of the ointments three times daily after surgery. Researchers will measure pain scores, wound healing time, and patient satisfaction to see which works better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Lignocaine ointment and glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) ointment
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show which ointment is better for easing pain and speeding healing after hemorrhoid surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 64 people, so results may not apply to everyone. Both treatments are already used, so no major breakthrough is expected.
