New device beats clips for bleeding control in gallbladder surgery

NCT ID NCT07517783

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested two methods to stop bleeding during laparoscopic gallbladder removal: standard titanium clips versus a device called LigaSure that seals blood vessels with energy. 114 patients were split into two groups. The LigaSure group lost less blood and achieved bleeding control faster than the clip group, with similar overall surgery time and no major complications. The findings suggest LigaSure may be a better option, especially in challenging surgeries.
