New device cuts blood loss in gallbladder surgery

NCT ID NCT07517783

First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested two ways to stop bleeding during keyhole gallbladder surgery: standard titanium clips versus a device called LigaSure that seals blood vessels. 114 adults having gallbladder removal were split into two groups. The LigaSure group lost less blood and achieved faster bleeding control, with no major complications. The findings suggest LigaSure may be a better option, especially in difficult cases.
